Project: Seal Leaking Cracks

Owner: BASF Corporation
Beaumont Agro Chemicals Plant
Beaumont, Texas

System: DeNeef Flex LV

Area: 40 LF

Completed: February, 2000

The outfall flume and control box were leaking severely from several cracks in the concrete structure and from voids in the flume itself.

Mobile’s crew drilled injection ports and injected a hydrophilic urethane into the cracks to fill them with a flexible gel that would stop the leakage, but allow the structure to move through thermal cycles. Large voids were filled with Master Builders 928 grout and then injected with the gel to form a “block” in the leak path.

All leakage was stopped and the unit is now watertight.
