Cottonwood Power Plant

The clarifier at the new Cottonwood Power Plant suffered from many leaking cracks and the owner would not accept the structure in such condition.

The clarifier is 53’ long, 24’ wide and 22’ tall with a launder at one end. The concrete in the walls is 17” thick. Crack size ranged from .002” to .010” inches in width.

Mobile crews injected 350 Linear Feet of crack with a hydrophilic urethane while the unit was in operation. When the unit was shut down and access to the interior was possible, Mobile crews completed the repair by installing an additional 300 Linear Feet of Sika Corporation’s “CombiFlex”.

The work was completed in March 2004, all leaks were stopped and the unit accepted by the owner.
