UTMB – Sealy Hospital Cooling Tower

Project: Cooling Tower Basin Liner & Boiler Room Roof
Rebecca Sealy Hospital
Galveston, Texas

Owner: University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston, TX

System: EnviroLastic® AR 200 HD

Area: 3,600 Sq. Ft.

Completed: March, 1999

The existing fiberglass liner in the two cell basin had delaminated and cracked and, as a result, process water was leaking into the boiler room located below the cooling tower.

Mobile crews removed the failed liner, abrasive blasted the concrete surfaces and filled bug holes, etc. They then primed with EnviroPrime WB and installed eighty (80) mils of EnviroLastic® AR 200 HD over the walls, support columns and floor of the two basins.

In addition, all piping inside the basins was prepped and coated with 80 mils of AR 200 HD and all pipe penetrations were caulked on the exterior to present a clean, finished look to the job.

Project meetings were held weekly and all UTMB personnel involved in the project were very impressed with both product and installer performance.
