Decker Foods Floor

Project: R & R 1” Thick Expoy Floor

Owner: Decker Foods
Garland, Texas

System: Corrosion Technology, Inc.
System 2000

Area: 10,000 Sq. Ft.

Completed: March, 1998

Mobile Enterprises, Inc. was contracted by CTI to remove and replace 10,000 sq. ft. of epoxy flooring that had been installed by another contractor, but had never completely cured. The job entailed removing a partially cured epoxy flooring system that averaged 1” in thickness and replacing it with the same system. The areas were available at 4:00 AM Saturday mornings and had to be fully cured by midnight Sunday. On-time performance in this operating food plant was critical.

Tear-out crews worked from 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM to remove the existing topping and prep the floor for the new system. Installation crews worked from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM Saturday night to install the new topping. Sunday morning, a sealer coat was applied and the floor was fully cured by midnight on Sunday. This scenario was performed four weekends in a row with perfect on-time performance.

Senior Plant Engineer Jerry Rhubart of Decker Foods commented that he had never worked with a more professional contracting company in all his years of performing plant maintenance.
