Seaboard Farms U-Crete

Project: Snap Chiller Flooring Replacement
Guymon, Oklahoma

Owner: Seaboard Farms, Inc.

System: U-Crete HF

Area: 7,000 Sq. Ft.

The Seaboard Farms plant in Guymon, Oklahoma processes over 15,000 hogs per day. Part of the process is to freeze the hog carcass before it is put into cold storage. This is done in an area of the plant called the Snap Chiller where temperatures reach -50ºF. Due to the harsh environment, the concrete floors in the Snap Chiller were in a serious state of deterioration. The U.S.D.A. was threatening to shut down the plant if it was not corrected.

The available time slot to make the repairs was from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. Mobile Enterprises was hired to repair the floor in 1,000 Sq. Ft. sections. Mobile crews would remove an average of 1/2” of deteriorated concrete from the surface with jack hammers and scabblers. Once the floor was cleaned and dry, U-Crete HF was trowelled back in at 1/2” thickness.
